Southampton put in a battling display but fell to a 2-0 defeat against Leicester City on Saturday evening.

Goals from James Maddison and Harvey Barnes ultimately gave the hosts the three points as Saints failed to find the net for the fourth time in their last five league games.

Injuries are the big talking point for Saints at the moment and having their first-choice starting 11 out will give them a boost when full fitness returns, but a tough run of upcoming fixtures will need to be met with as much effort as Ralph Hasenhuttl and his players can give.

Participation in the FA Cup – Third-Round on Tuesday night and Fourth-Round potentially on Saturday – now gives time for some rotation and the return of some players to the matchday squad.
