Southampton: Saints sent in surprise offer for Edin Dzeko
Southampton have struggled for goals over the past month and made a surprising offer at veteran striker Edin Dzeko who is unhappy at Roma.
According to this report, Southampton, as well as West Ham, submitted offers for the Roma striker as the new manager has pushed him out and he is looking for a move.
Hasenhuttl has stuck with Ings and Adams for his striking duo but you cannot blame the club for going after a proven goalscorer like Dzeko.
Unfortunately, Dzeko was not happy with either offer as the two clubs do not meet his ambition and now the Saints will have to look elsewhere for a new player. The club has yet to make any moves this January and there are only a few days left.
My biggest concerns for the club right now are full-backs and possibly a new winger. The defense has been strong this season but what the Arsenal match taught us is if there is an injury crisis in the back we will be woefully exposed.
As for wingers, at the moment Stuart Armstrong is really the only one producing. Walcott has not been taking his chances and Redmond and Djenepo have been injured. I believe the attacking midfield/winger position they play is the most important to the Saints attack and they need to perform in order for the team to succeed.

If the Saints do not figure out their attack it could be a long rest of the season as we grind out low-scoring draws or 1-0 victories.
