Southampton vs. Chelsea FC: Premier League – Player Ratings
By Erik Franzo
Strikers and Substitutes
Danny Ings, Striker – 5
Minimally involved in the first half as he was isolated often up front. Used very little energy to press, but not sure anyone is complaining about that. His striker’s tackle in the box brought the Southampton demons back and adds to the juju Ings can’t shake.
Nathan Redmond, Striker – 7
His pace in pressing was key in slowing down the Chelsea attack. Asked to play hold up at times which is not his strong suit. Incisive pass to Minamino was both unexpected and brilliant. Redmond’s job was very difficult today and for what he had to do, he did well.
Nathan Tella, Substitute Attacking-Midfielder – N/A
The first sub for Hasenhuttl replacing Minamino. Took a head knock with Kante, but stayed on. Had the ball sparingly, so no rating is applicable.
Che Adams, Substitute Striker – N/A
Seems to have lost his place and got under 10 minutes today in which he saw very little opportunity.
Dan N’Lundulu, Substitute Striker – N/A
The final sub essentially to kill time and take the point.
