Southampton fell to a concerning 3-0 defeat to Leeds on Tuesday evening to make it seven Premier League defeats from eight games.

A 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the weekend looked to be an uplifting result and one that could spark a run of form, but a rotated Saints team could not claim another positive outcome at Elland Road.

Premier League safety and a stronger charge in the FA Cup is what Saints can hope for during the rest of this season. A better performance in the league can be expected after an active transfer window, with less injuries and in a post-pandemic world.

Supporters will have to stick with the team in the meanwhile and look towards upcoming meetings with Sheffield United and Brighton for top-flight status to get that little bit closer.
