Southampton have had their injury issues this year and Ralph will not add to them by sending players on national team duty and losing them to quarantine.

“It is absolutely nonsense, forget it absolutely not, why should I send them there?” said the Austrian and he brings up a good point.

Why would he willingly choose to lose some of his better players when the team is struggling at the moment? It is all hands on deck for Southampton right now and they cannot risk losing anyone for any amount of time for the rest of the season.

It may be a disappointment to some players but others may be relieved to just get a little bit of a break and recover from any knocks or fatigue they may have. Southampton will be taking on Sheffield on Saturday and this is the chance they need to get the season back on track.

If they can win tomorrow and start building some momentum they could find themselves well clear of the relegation zone and have a comfortable finish and look to next season.

Not everyone is a fan of international football and you can add Ralph Hasenhuttl to that list especially when there is a quarantine the players must face when they return. Hopefully, in the near future we can send players on international duty without having to lose them for 2 weeks.

But we can worry about the future when we get there. The Saints need to focus on the task at hand and that is Sheffield United and a chance to pick up three massive points.
