It is time for the dreaded international break and Southampton go into this break coming off of a nice 3-0 FA Cup victory over Bournemouth.

It was a dominating performance and one that could have them return after the break brimming with confidence. It was a performance they needed and now it is probably a great time to look at the club’s five best players right now.

These 5 will be the ones leading the team when they return and hopefully pick up some results along the way.

Number 5

Nathan Tella

The youngster did not have much of an impact on the match against Bournemouth but he still has been a consistently exciting player to watch and shows real promise moving forward.

He will likely feature heavily the rest of the season as Ralph tries to get some rotation into the squad and get the younger players more experience.

I think he will find a little goal-scoring streak here before the season ends.

Number 4

Nathan Redmond

Redmond was instrumental in the win over Bournemouth with 2 goals and an assist. He seems to be playing with more confidence lately and hopefully, he can carry it over the International Break.

If he can start finishing more consistently that will be a major boost to this team as we all know how much they have struggled to score this season.

Number 3

Jannik Vestergaard

Probably the most consistent defender all season, the Dane has started being linked to bigger clubs and that should be no surprise at this point.

He has been a presence on both sides of the ball as he is constantly a threat on set-pieces. I do not know where we would be if Vestergaard was not in the form he has been all season.

Number 2

James Ward-Prowse

JWP has been a fixture in this power ranking all season. He is the heart and soul of the team on the pitch and is the leader. He has been consistent in his form all season long and has been a joy to watch.

He fully deserves the England call-up he recently received and hopefully gets to represent his country at Euros

Number 1

Stuart Armstrong

Ralph was recently heaping on the praise for Stuart Armstrong and he fully deserves it. He is probably our best player on the ball and his ability to beat defenders has helped create a ton of chances this season.

He has been a joy to watch and hopefully he can help Scotland in their hunt for World Cup qualification.
