Manager, Goalkeeper and Defenders

Ralph Hasenhuttl, Manager – 8

Not to blame for the start his players made but was proven to have got it spot on with selection and changes eventually.

Fraser Forster, Goalkeeper – 8

Commanding performance from the big man, who looks like the leader at the back that this Saints team needs.

Kyle Walker-Peters, Right-Back – 5

Not his usual self and gave away a needless penalty. The consistent high standards that he performs to mean he will be back to form next time out.

Jan Bednarek, Centre-Back – 5

Some crucial clearances when Burnley were building attacks in the latter stages, but he was given a torrid afternoon as the Clarets targeted him with a battering ram in the form of Chris Wood.

Jannik Vestergaard, Centre-Back – 6

A few of his raking cross-field balls and some vital clearances late on in a game where he couldn’t quite influence in his usual way.

Ryan Bertrand, Left-Back – 6

Forced back for the latter stages by Burnley’s right-hand combination of Matt Lowton and Dwight McNeil.
