Southampton put in a very poor performance against West Brom on Monday evening and fell to a deserved 3-0 defeat as a result.

Goals from Matheus Pereira, Matt Phillips and Callum Robinson proved enough to give the hosts at the Hawthorns a second-straight Premier League win as Saints failed to lay a glove on their opponents.

This really is a bad result for Ralph Hasenhuttl and his side ahead of their biggest game of the season in the FA Cup.

Inconsistency has been the theme for them this season and the fact that the manager and players will have to pick themselves up for next Sunday at Wembley after one of their worst performances of the campaign is just another twist.

There are certainly now some big selection issues for Hasenhuttl to ponder with some on the bench perhaps deserving of a chance to impress. There really has to be an injection of energy with so little of the season left but with so much still to play for.
