Southampton have been keeping tabs on Venezuelan Yangel Herrera as he has out on-loan this season from his parent club Manchester City

The young midfielder has impressed this season in the Spanish La Liga and there are even talks of him breaking into the Manchester City squad next season.

According to a new report from Goal, Southampton, West Ham, and a number of Spanish clubs are interested in bringing in the player over the summer.

Only 22-years-of-age, the midfielder has loads of potential and he can show it on an international stage against Manchester United in the Europa League coming up.

Midfield has been a position that has been identified that the Saints need coverage. Right now it is really just Ward-Prowse and Diallo that Ralph trusts to play there and that is simply not enough for a whole Premier League campaign.

I suspect they will look to bring in two more midfielders this summer and if they could bring Herrera in on-loan I think that would be a good move for both the club and the player.

The end of the season is rapidly approaching and the transfer window will be here before we know it. Southampton need to identify the players they want early and cannot wait until the final week to scramble for some moves.

This is a pivotal summer and if they fail to support Ralph I would not be surprised if he leaves for a job where he can actually buy players.

Southampton take on Leicester this Sunday in the FA Cup so make sure you come back for all of our coverage for that.
