Southampton failed to find a performance that lived up to the build-up ahead of their FA Cup Semi-Final against Leicester City on Sunday.

They did not find a shot on target at Wembley and will be as disappointed as their supporters to see such an opportunity come and go in the latter stages of a domestic competition.

In terms of competition on the pitch, there was not much between the teams. Saints certainly managed to keep things tighter than they did against West Brom last Monday.

However, Leicester always looked more dangerous going forward and saw Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho combine for the only real piece of quality in the game – the latter receiving some fortune with a rebound off the legs of Jannik Vestergaard.

It will take a few huge wins for other teams to pull Saints back into a relegation scrap but things just need a lift now. This season has certainly not proved to be what we all wanted but it cannot continue to dwindle out into nothing and better performances need to come between now and mid-May.

The Saints Player Ratings from their showing at Wembley are included in the following slides.
