Midfielders

James Ward-Prowse, Central-Midfielder – 5

Below his usual standards. A free-kick that sailed straight into Schmeichel’s gloves with the last action of the game summed it all up.

Will play a bit role in motivating his teammates for the final league games of the season with safety still not absolutely certain.

Ibrahima Diallo, Central-Midfielder – 6

Just about the best of the Saints players. Composed on the ball and kept things solid enough in the centre with Ward-Prowse when proceedings were compared to the loss at West Brom.

Had Saints’ best opportunity and was unfortunate not to find the top corner with his hooked, right-footed volley.

Stuart Armstrong, Attacking-Midfielder – 6

Five completed dribbles but Saints were never able to create something from his play. This has been a theme recently, whereas things were always coming off in the early season.

A vital player if he and his teammates are to piece together some form in the final six league matches.

Moussa Djenepo, Attacking-Midfielder – 5

A few bursts of pace but never got involved around the penalty area – much like a lot of his teammates.

Was given his chance to impress in Walcott’s place but did not take his chance, although he did not have a lot to work with.
