Jannik Vestergaard is having his best season for Southampton and it has not gone unnoticed by a number of clubs not just in England.

According to a new report that comes out of Italy, there are a number of clubs in Serie A that have been watching the big centre-back this season and are weighing up a move for him.

Notably, Juventus and Roma have joined Tottenham in their interest for the player. Juventus have struggled this season and are currently sit 4th on the table and are in a fight with for a Champions League spot (maybe why they wanted to leave for the Super League).

Roma have struggled defensively this season and have conceded 51 goals and could use reinforcements in the back.

Now, to look at this from a Southampton perspective. At first, I was against selling Vestergaard this summer but now I have changed my tune a bit. But, it would have to come for the right price. It is clear Saints need a number of players this summer and the best way to fund those moves would be to sell Vestergaard for a profit.

I believe Salisu, with a full summer to train, will be ready to step into his spot and fill it well. Then with the money from the Vestergaard sale, they could sign a number of players to beef up the squad and get the numbers Hasenhuttl wants.

It will be tough to see the big Dane go but I think it may be for the best if the club spends the money well.
