Midfielders
James Ward-Prowse, Central-Midfield – 8
Strong penalty when it mattered and some solid screening in front of the back four. Stuck up for his teammates when everything seemed to be going against them.
As I have said before, he will become the main man next season (if he isn’t already) and the team needs to be built around him.
Stuart Armstrong, Central-Midfield – 8
Visibly out of breath for much of the second-half but still managed to get his legs moving to cover the ground that his team needed him to.
Has so many good attributes and is very capable of playing in many positions. Crucial player.
Takumi Minamino, Attacking-Midfield – 6
It was a surprise to see him in the starting line-up given that he has been down the pecking order in recent weeks.
Worked as hard as his teammates even if that is certainly not his strength. The only concern is that a loan spell that promised so much looks set to fade out to nothing unless he is given more time on the pitch.
Nathan Tella, Attacking-Midfield – N/A
Sacrificed after Vestergaard was sent off. This really would have been a huge chance for him to impress and you can only feel for him.
Hopefully will be given more game time in the final matches of the season because he deserves it as one of the bright sparks.
