Leicester Give Saints an Arm

The Hampshire side could only muster three shots on target during the entire match. However, one of these crucially brought the breakthrough.

The Foxes will have to consider that they were the masters of their own downfall on this one though.

The away side initially win the ball in their half, only for Saints to force an errant pass.

Stuart Armstrong gains possession and attempts to make his way down the wing. Timothy Castagne tries to nip the ball away from the Scott but only succeeds in clipping his man.

SFC gain a free kick almost on the goal kick line, akin to a short corner.

Rather than play the ball directly into the box, ward-Prowse instead ops to pass to Armstrong, who ends up just inside the box. The midfielder blasts a shot towards goal.

The visitors block the shot, but only thanks to an arm from Kelechi Iheanacho. The ball struck the number 14’s arm at head height.

This silly lapse in judgement gave JWP a chance from 12 yards.

The captain had seen his last penalty saved against West Bromwich Albion. He made no mistake this time.

The keeper went the right way, but the ball ended up tucked away in the corner, out of the reach of desperate hands.

The lead, gained just after the hour mark, wouldn’t last long, but it was just reward for a team digging in against adversity.
