Southampton had defended relatively well throughout the contest despite being disadvantaged. This didn’t prevent the travellers from having chances to get on the score sheet.

McCarthy was forced to make multiple saves. Highlights included the shot-stopper saving with his legs and turning two chances over the bar.

LCFC finally seized there moment with just over 20 minutes to go.

Making up for his previous sin, Iheanacho delivers an excellent ball.  Jonny Evans smartly moves himself into position and beats the offside trap.

The player then fires a bullet header past a helpless goalkeeper.

It was an excellent cross and deserve to be finished, but alarmingly the defence seemed powerless to stop Evans, making a path through multiple players to claim the header.

Although it is disappointing not to take all three points from the tie, a point a piece is a fair result.
