Southampton claimed a deserved 3-1 win over Crystal Palace after a dominant performance on Tuesday night.

Saints fans would have been fearing the worst when hesitant defending allowed Christian Benteke to score with his third attempt in the aftermath of a free-kick, but thankfully things got back on track soon.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side clicked into gear and drew level when Nathan Redmond set up Danny Ings. The striker had a lot to do under pressure from multiple defenders but spun brilliantly to poke into the bottom corner.

A big penalty save from Fraser Forster then made sure of a platform to push on in the second-half and they duly did just that. Che Adams turned home after a clever set-piece routine and then slid through Ings who, again, expertly found the net.

Big performances from a number of players contributed to the win and will have given supporters the belief that an enjoyable end to the season will be witnessed.
