Southampton vs Fulham: Saints Player Ratings from convincing win
By Marc Walker
Strikers and Substitutes
Danny Ings, Striker – 7
Nothing quite came off for him in this game but the workrate, as always, was most definitely there.
Withdrawn just before the hour mark with strict game time guidelines and upcoming games in mind, although he did not look too pleased.
Che Adams, Striker – 8
Excellent pressing at times that really worried Fulham and almost created goals for his teammates as a result.
Gambled to sneak in and score the opening goal as Ward-Prowse’s dangerous delivery dropped on the six-yard line.
Nathan Tella, 1st Substitute – 9
Unbelievably exciting prospect for the next few years and this was his best cameo to date. Scored one and set up one in just 30 minutes on the field.
A winger by trade but showing that he can become a very good striker. The impact that Theo Walcott is having on his development is shown by their celebration together after the second goal.
Theo Walcott, 2nd Substitute – 7
Into the action straight away after coming on for Minamino and netted his first goal back at St Mary’s via a deflection.
This substitute role is what Saints saw him having when he came to the club and maybe this will be what is seen more often next season if, as seems likely, he stays.
Ibrahima Diallo, 3rd Substitute – N/A
Will be hungry for more minutes and the upcoming pre-season could be a big one in terms of him developing further towards Ward-Prowse, Romeu and Armstrong levels.
