Ruben Loftus-Cheek has struggled to find his place at Chelsea and now Southampton are keen to bring him in on-loan for the next season.

According to a report from Express, Southampton are ready to give the player a chance to play Premier League football next season after he spent this season on relegation-bound Fulham.

The deal that Southampton are interested in making would be a season-long loan deal with an option for a permanent move at the end of it.

Ralph Hasenhuttl is said to be a big fan of the player and has now made him a priority. There is likely no space for him at Chelsea and he could receive a fresh start on the South Coast.

He would fit the Saints playing style well in my opinion. He is a tall, strong player who is very skillful on the ball which is what Southampton need. If we were to bring in Loftus-Cheek, I would highly doubt we keep Mario Lemina around and he will need to be sold this summer.

At just 25-years-of-age he could be a prime player for years to come if he plays to his potential.

This summer is important for Southampton as they really need to take a step forward. They showed promise in the first half of the season but that was followed by a truly awful second half. They need to be more consistent and need to be nowhere near the relegation zone next season.

The key to success will be bringing in the proper players this summer who can add depth to the squad and contribute. Too many of the transfers over the past few years have not contributed to the team and have been a waste of money.

Hopefully, this summer is different.
