Southampton had an interesting season with their goalkeepers and if they want to improve they need to have a constant number 1.

One name, according to sportwitness, that Southampton have been linked to is Thomas Strakoshka who will be out of contract with Lazio and looks like he will not sign a new deal.

The Saints are not the only Premier League club that are interested in the goalkeeper. Crystal Palace are also interested and will give the Saints some competition for his signature.

One position that needs consistency is the goalkeeper position and for the past 3 seasons that has not been the case for Southampton.

It is about time they find a number 1 they can play week-in and week-out without question. It has to be tough for Forster and McCarthy training each week not knowing who will be starting when it comes to the match.

The 26-year-old would provide a younger option in net and could be the goalkeeper for the long-term if he is brought in.

I personally would not mind moving on from Forster and McCarthy. They are not bad goalkeepers they are just pretty average and do not excite me moving forward. They are both north of 30-years-old and are likely past their prime.

This will be a busy summer for Southampton as I believe a number of players will be sold and a good number of players will be brought in. It will be a different-looking team and I think that will be for the better as clearly what we have now is not working.

Ralph has voices his frustrations with some of the players and will be looking to offload the ones who are not living up to his standard of play. That means the likes of Nathan Redmond and Moussa Djenepo could be on their way out this summer.
