Moussa Djenepo had a disappointing season for Southampton and could be sold as Turkish club Fenerbahce are interested in the winger.

According to a new report, Fenerbahce finished 3rd this season in the Turkish league and want to bolster their attack this summer. One of their answers for that would be Southampton’s own, Moussa Djenepo.

The winger only scored 1 goal this season for the Saints and saw his playtime greatly reduced due to injury and the form of the players ahead of him.

Unfortunately, the Turkish club would not be able to fund a permanent move and would likely just want to bring the player on loan for the next season.

This leaves Southampton in an interesting situation because they will want to sell their players for money this summer to help fund moves for new players. If Moussa Djenepo is seen as expendable they may shop him around to see if they can recoup some of the cost from his transfer to Southampton.

Djenepo, still just 22-years-of-age, will be out of contract at the end of next season so the club will need to decide now what his future is with Southampton. If they do not see him as a long-term solution on the wing they should sell him this summer.

If they do believe he has a future at the club there is no reason to send him out on loan. Let him continue to develop in training and have him play more during the season.

I would not be surprised if Djenepo is sold this summer however as he has not produced much for the club and is injured often.
