The season ends with a whimper as Southampton fall to West Ham 3-0

A Pablo Fornals’ brace handed the Hammers all three points, a late Declan Rice strike just compounded Southampton’s misery.

The result sees Saints finish in a rather indifferent 15th position. The Londoners meanwhile make their way into a well-deserved Europa League spot. David Moyes’ men complete the term in sixth place.

Despite having the better of the opening exchanges SFC faded as the usual defensive howlers cost them dearly. Disappointingly the performance represents nothing fans haven’t seen before.

Brief hope aside, this last outing is the embodiment of the worst issues plaguing the club.

That having been said here are the three key takeaways from West Ham 3 Southampton 0. Brace yourself, it’s going to be painful.
