Southampton are in the market for a half-back and Junior Firpo looks poised to leave Barcelona this summer and the Saints are interested.

According to a report from ESPN, Junior Firpo will be sold this summer by Barcelona and Southampton could do business with their former manager Ronald Koeman.

They will face competition for the player by a number of clubs. One of those would be AC Milan who tried to bring Firpo in on loan last summer but were unsuccessful.

Firpo, is only 24-years-old and can still have a promising career he will just need to find a new club to do it at as Barca are keen on selling him this summer as they are in need of some funds.

I think Southampton would be a good landing spot for Firpo to relaunch his career. It is clear the club need a left-back with Ryan Bertrand leaving and Firpo is hungry to prove himself.

I would imagine the initial deal would be a loan move with an option or obligation to buy at the end and that would allow Southampton to build up some funds to make the move permanent.

Southampton are likely to be linked to a number of players this summer and hopefully, they can land their priorities. The past few summers have been somewhat underwhelming but I think this summer will be different.

Ralph is clearly not happy with he current squad and if the club want to keep him at the helm they need to provide him with players that will play for him and be succesful.
