Junior Firpo

Similar to Williams in his ability to play left and right-back, Firpo has been reported as a Saints transfer target by ESPN.

He has hade limited game time with Barcelona this season, although it is unknown how much the Catalan giants would charge for another club to secure his services.

ESPN also confirm interest in Firpo from clubs in Serie A but state that Saints have indeed enquired about his availability ahead of the upcoming season.

The player remains a good age for Saints to target at 24 as he still has plenty of his career ahead of him and, because things have not gone as he wold have liked since his transfer to Barcelona from Real Betis, he may be looking for the perfect opportunity to reignite personal form.

It was back in 2017/18 where the Spanish international broke into Betis’ first-team and played in an excellent team that gained European qualification with a 6th-placed finish. A finish of 10th followed the next campaign and Firpo’s showings earned him a £16m move to Barca.

Since then though, he has has significant competition to contend with in Jordi Alba and a lack of opportunities this campaign has seen him start just six games.
