Southampton: Club confirms James Ward-Prowse is not for sale
Southampton have confirmed that their Captain will not be for sale as he was linked with a move to Aston Villa over the weekend.
James Ward-Prowse will be disappointed he was not selected for the Euro’s squad but should be happy he will not need to start over at a new club this summer.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Southampton have made it clear that the club will not be selling the midfielder.
James Ward-Prowse embodies Southampton and it would have been a real blow if he left the club this summer. I think fans would have rioted and rightfully so. He has been our most consistent player for a long time and fans love him.
With JWP staying at the club, they will need to add some new talent around him to really bring out the best in the midfielder.
It was a tough season and now Southampton are looking to do a lot of business this summer and really bring in a lot of new faces to give this team the lift they need.
It will largely depend on how many players they are able to sell and for what price. But, it is good to know James Ward-Prowse is not one of those players we will have to say goodbye to this summer.
