Jean-Pierre Nsame

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Saints are one of four teams looking at the possibility of signing Nsame from Swiss side Young Boys.

West Ham, Newcastle and Celtic are also mentioned as teams tracking the progress of the 28-year-old after seeing him plunder 98 goals in 173 games in Berne.

There is one problem for current suitors of the Cameroon international – he suffered an Achilles tendon rupture at the end of May and it remains to be seen whether this will put an end to transfer plans or not.

For Saints, this will be looking for a striker with an impressive record for an achievable fee. Nsame covers both those points, but his age will not be ideal as the club look at his situation. With maybe three or four years of his best performance levels still to give, he is unlikely to be arriving at St Mary’s.
