3 goalkeepers linked with Southampton transfers with Gunn set for exit

Freddie Woodman
According to Chronicle Live, Celtic and Saints are looking to sign Newcastle shot-stopper Woodman after his impressive loan spell at Swansea City.
He made 52 appearances in all competitions for the Swans in 2020/21 and claimed a healthy 22 clean sheets from those matches – a season that would have been one of the most important in his development as a player.
Six separate loan spells, including two consecutively with Swansea, have seen Woodman unable to spend much time at all with Newcastle and he may be looking for a permanent move this summer at the age of 24.
He would have some significant competition at Saints if a deal was to be done so he may be eyeing other options first. Celtic’s reported interest will certainly be intriguing for him because he could certainly become third number 1.
As Saints assess their own goalkeeping choices and and look to life after McCarthy and Forster though, Woodman is certainly a player to keep an eye on with many years of his own career left.
