Southampton: What to expect from Saints this transfer window
Ralph Hasenhuttl has made it clear he wants to bring new players to Southampton this summer and now we have an idea of what that will look like.
According to a new report from Hampshire Live, Southampton are looking to bring in at least four players this summer to freshen up the squad and compete next season.
There were plenty of areas on the pitch the Saints needed to improve in and it looks like those positions have been identified by the club with who they are targetting.
First, it looks like they are targeting multiple wing-backs. One to replace Ryan Bertrand and another to be a backup to Kyle Walker-Peters.
This obviously makes sense as the club has a real lack of depth at both of those positions and it hurt the club down the stretch.
Additionally, Southampton are looking at strikers but the priority are wide attacking players. I believe this is because Minamino is unlikely to return and the days of Nathan Redmond at the club may be numbered.
The goal is to target younger players who Hasenhuttl can develop but they are not going to limit themselves just to youngsters. If they believe a player, for the right price, can positively impact the club they will likely bring them in.
As always, Southampton are going to be linked to numerous players but only a few will actually come to fruition. Hopefully, they are quality signings who can come in and immediately make an impact on the club.
I am looking forward to this summer as a nice break and then we will all be ready to attack the next season.
