Southampton have been trying to sell defender Wesley Hoedt for some time now and it has finally come to fruition as he goes to Anderlecht.

Wesley Hoedt has been out-of-favor for some time now and has spent the past few seasons on loan to a couple of different clubs.

Now, he is finally joining a new team on a permanent deal and will be off of Southampton’s books for good.

Southampton are likely not going to recoup much of the original cost of the player but they will just be happy to get something as well as getting his wages off of the books finally.

With Hoedt gone, the club can now focus on selling other bits of deadwood at the club and cleaning up their wage bill. The only way they will be able to bring in the number of players they hope to this summer is by selling players like Hoedt who are just sucking up money from the club.

Bad business has plagued the club over the past 3-5 seasons or so and it was really coming back to bite them over the past few seasons. Now, they have a chance to right a lot of the wrongs this summer and hopefully pick out players who will bring quality to the team.

We wish Wesley Hoedt the best of luck at his new club and thank him for his time with Southampton.

But now we move forward and bring in new players to compete and fight for a spot in European competition.
