Four flexible full-backs who have been linked to Southampton recently

Brandon Williams
According to a report from Hampshire Live, Williams remains a target for Saints this summer after they missed out on signing him in January.
Williams remained on the fringes at Manchester United for the remainder of last season but was reportedly kept by Red Devils’ boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to ensure enough depth to contend with injuries and Covid-19 cases.
However, Hampshire Live now report that United are more open to sending him out on a temporary deal to help with his development.
Similar to Tavares, Williams is a left-back by trade but can play as a right-back. Being right-footed helps him in this regard.
He has also played in some significant games for United in both Europe and domestic competitions and would bring a steady head on young shoulders to St Mary’s if a deal is struck during this off-season.
It is a real possibility that Williams will choose to move on-loan to get some first-team football. He played just 14 senior matches in all competitions in 2020/21 and just five of these were starts.
