Southampton are looking to strengthen their squad this summer and now are looking at Borussia Dortmund player Thomas Delaney.

According to a new report from sportslens, there are a number of clubs who are interested in the player who will be out of contract with his current club at the end of 2022.

Southampton, if they pursue Delaney, they will face competition from Crystal Palace and Norwich City.

The player is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League and would likely be a bit cheaper due to his contract ending after this season.

Southampton could use some help in the midfield as they are lacking a bit of depth there. Romeu is a bit older and Diallo is still developing. A player with the experience level of Delaney would be a huge help to a club like Southampton.

I think this would be a good bit of business for Southampton and I would be thrilled if they pulled the trigger on him.

He is a solid player who would bring maturity and experience to the side that sometimes lack that in matches. We all know Southampton have an issue with dropping points from a winning position so have another leader out on the pitch will be huge.

The Premier League season is fast approaching and the first match will be here before we know it. The club will need to start getting their business done soon so the players have some time to adjust to Ralph’s system and his high standard for fitness.

I suspect we will have some news here in the next ten days of a signing.
