Southampton are trying to land Adam Armstrong from Blackburn and could use Michael Obafemi as part of the deal to land the striker.

Blackburn have reportedly rejected Southampton’s first bid for the striker so now the Saints are looking to sweeten the deal by adding Michael Obafemi to the deal. This is reported by The Sun, and Blackburn have valued Adam Armstrong at £25m.

21-year-old Michael Obafemi has had some good moments with Southampton but does not seem to be preferred by Hasenhuttl. There have been questions about his work ethic and dedication and maybe moving to another club would be good for his career.

Adam Armstrong has proven himself to be a goalscorer and could add a lot of value to Southampton’s attack. I would be more than happy to add Obafemi into the package for Armstrong if it means we can get him for cheaper.

I also believe Armstrong would be a better suited to take Danny Ings’ role if he does leave the club and they are not able to find another replacement for the striker.

It is going to be interesting to see if Saints can complete the transfer for Adam Armstrong and not break the bank in the process.

I think he would be a value add and I am not committed to keeping Obafemi around long-term. I think he is a good player but I do not see him improving that much more.
