Southampton: Club has improved bid for Adam Armstrong
Southampton had an initial offer for striker Adam Armstrong rejected by Blackburn and now have submitted a new offer for the player on Wednesday.
According to a new report from the Daily Mail, Southampton have offered players in addition to cash for the striker and submitted a bid on Wednesday.
It is rumored players like Michael Obafemi would be offered in addition to the cash to try and lure Blackburn into selling their star man.
I think Southampton really need to push for Armstrong. he has proven himself as a goalscorer and that is what Southampton need. They do not have a consistent goal scorer outside of Danny Ings and if they sell Ings they will be hurting for goals.
The new bid is a reported £10m with players. That matches the initial offer but this time they have added on a few players to try and sweeten the deal. I am not sure who else would be included in the deal outside of Obafemi. It could be a few of the other younger players or potentially Sam McQueen.
The new season is just around the corner and Southampton need to sell a few more players and purchase a couple more. They are not where they want to be yet and will absolutely need to buy new players to round out the squad.
I am hoping they complete the deal for Brandon WIlliams soon and can follow that up with Armstrong shortly after. I am excited for the season to get started and see how Hasenhuttl can improve over the last season!
