Saints have new star in Tella
Nathan Tella’s introduction in the second-half kicked Saints into another gear entirely.
He linked brilliantly with Che Adams and Nathan Redmond to create a number of openings late on and ended the game with two assists – two perfect passes finished expertly by Che Adams.
The confident way that Tella took the ball and influenced things in the final third was so good to see and he is really staking a claim for a consistent place in the starting line-up. Supporters certainly see the talent that he possesses.
Add Tella alongside Danny Ings, Che Adams and Michael Obafemi and Southampton could have some impressive options for their two striker positions. A striker signing has also been rumoured for a long time but it remains to be seen whether the clubs will return for another go at cracking Blackburn’s stance on Adam Armstrong.
What is clear though is that Tella needs even more of a chance this season. Ralph Hasenhuttl clearly likes him and will know what is best for his player’s long-term development, but he could be one of the best talents to come through the Saints youth system if he continues on his current trajectory.
