Southampton loaned out Jake Vokins this summer to develop at Ross County but has suffered a serious injury before the season even starts.

It is always frustrating to see a young player go down with an injury that will set him back for sometime because you want them to develop and become the best player they can be.

Vokins will be out for at least 10 weeks and will have an operation done to repair the injury in Southampton. What this means for his season is yet to be seen but it has to be a frustrating setback for the young full-back.

We wish Jake a speedy recovery and hope to see him out on the pitch real soon.

This reminds me a lot of the Smallbone injury last season and that is another player who should be on the road to recovery and hopefully, we get to see him at some point this season.

The season is just under 2 weeks away and Southampton are primed and ready to get rolling and improve on their previous season. They have looked good over their two preseason matches and will hopefully have some confidence going into the season.

They started out strong last year but it will be about maintaining that form throughout the season and competing for a spot in Europe. I think the goal this year should be a top-half finish and that is attainable if they beat the teams they are supposed to and steal points from the big 6.

I am very excited for the season and ready for it to get underway.
