Southampton confirmed via twitter that they have accepted a bid for striker Danny Ings from Aston Villa on Wednesday Evening.

It is not a complete shock that Danny Ings is moving away from the club as it had been rumoured for most of the summer but I do not think most people thought that it would be Aston Villa he would be going to.

The fee is said to be in the neighborhood of £30m which is a decent price for the striker of his age and injury history.

With all that said, this transfer happened quickly and has taken almost everyone by surprise. Ings’ goals are going to be missed this season that is for sure but one would think the club have a replacement lined up or at least a few potential targets.

This indicates Southampton are far from done this transfer window if they are willing to let a player like Danny Ings go to a rival club.

Time will tell what they decide to do with the money they receive and how they will fair without Ings but now let us focus on what Danny did for the club.

His time at Southampton has been a joy and I do not think any of us will forget it anytime soon. I am not upset he is leaving but that does not mean I will not miss him and his performances. I was looking forward to seeing him player another season in the Red & White but that will unfortunately not happen.

We wish Danny Ings all the best and hope he does not score too many goals against us this season.
