Southampton linked with three striker replacements after Danny Ings sale

Tammy Abraham
According to a report from the Evening Standard’s Jack Rosser, Saints have joined Arsenal and West Ham in the race to sign Abraham this summer. This interest is reaffirmed by the Athletic’s Dan Sheldon.
The England international is said to be free to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after falling out of favour under Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel. However, the Blues would prefer a permanent sale and a £40m price tag has reportedly been put on his head.
Because of the cost in transfer fee and the sizeable wages Abraham would demand, the Standard confirm that Saints want the 23-year-old on a loan deal despite Chelsea not being open to that at this stage.
Although it is perhaps unlikely now, Abraham would be a superb addition for Saints if they want to directly replace the goal threat that will be missing without Danny Ings.
He has hauls of 18 and 12 in the last two seasons respectively at Chelsea but forged a reputation in the lower leagues with 23 and 26-goal campaigns with Bristol City and Aston Villa in the Championship.
