Southampton: Club interested in bringing back Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Southampton are looking to beef up the squad in the run-up to the season and they are interested in bringing back former player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
According to a new report from Talk Sport, the club would like to bring in the midfielder on loan for the season and add another veteran presence to the squad.
This would be a lot like the Theo Walcott move from last season and that turned out well for both the club and the player.
The Englishman has had his fair share of injury issues but he would fit into the squad perfectly I believe and would add some coverage both in the midfield and he could potentially pop out to the wing as well.
I believe Liverpool would like to make a permanent deal for the player but if Southampton are able to hold out they may be able to get away with loan deal that could end in an option to buy.
The Ox is still only 27-years-of-age and could still prove to be an asset for a club that lacked depth last season. He did not play too much last season and is looking to bounce back and the South Coast could be a perfect place for him to do just that.
Southampton are definitely not done yet this window and appear to be on the verge of completing a deal for Adam Armstrong. I would like them to complete two more bits of business then I think I would be satisfied with the business down this summer.
Southampton kick off the season against Everton this Saturday in a match that will set the tone for the first month of the season!
