Nathan Tella and Armando Broja will combine for 12-15 goals

Let’s be honest, they need to.  Southampton have found a striker in the transfer market after the sale of Danny Ings, in Adam Armstrong from Blackburn.  However, there are high hopes for these emerging starboys to cash in on their opportunities.

Nathan Tella is the single most positive force in the Saints’ side, capable of lifting fans’ spirits with his smile alone.  Tella broke the ice with his first professional goal at the end of the 20-21 campaign while playing plenty of minutes at forward.  He has the flexibility to run the wing as well, but Hasenhuttl likes him farther up the pitch to stretch back lines with his pace.  The youngster is going to get all the opportunity to shine this season and if not, there are going to be many calling for Hasenhuttl’s head.  Maybe, just maybe, there is a push for double digit goals, and what a difference that will make.

Armando Broja was announced on loan from Chelsea on Monday and brings a ton of pace and pedigree.  The Albanian tore up the U18’s scoring 10 goals total with 9 of them coming in a stretch between 9/10/19 – 30/11/19.  More importantly he scored 10 times with Eredivise side Vitesse Arnhem over 30 matches.  Chelsea surely did not loan a top striking prospect to a Premier League side to not be given an opportunity.  With the simultaneous arrival of Adam Armstrong there will be some competition for first choice striker, but it is realistic that he will be in directly competition for best fit with the Blackburn man and Che Adams.

Five-seven goals from Broja might be a bold prediction for a loanee, but for Hasenhuttl’s system, he and Nathan Tella are very real problems for opposing defences.
