Mohammed Salisu is Southampton’s Player of the Year

Salisu has hardly put a foot wrong, other than firing in an own goal in preseason.  His performances have been consistent, he clearly has the physical ability to compete at centre-back and gives the team a tactical edge with his left-foot.  Salisu is supremely confident in his ability and barely has a pulse under pressure.  Ralph routinely stated this would be his season and he may take the world by storm.

Jannik Vestergaard could be on his way out under the final year of his contract.  The Dane remains the only barrier to this prediction becoming reality.  Vestergaard was one of Southampton’s best players in 20-21 while shining in the Euros, but his price tag, along with a fit Salisu means he is expendable.  Considering we bring in depth to cover with the funds.

Mohammed Salisu is poised to have a breakthrough campaign, and it seems many are underestimating gaining a player of his quality.  It’s almost as if he was a new signing.  One that will go on to have the best season of any player in red and white.
