Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse has been the subject of a good number of rumours this summer as a number of clubs are interested in him.

According to a new report from the Telegraph, Tottenham and Aston Villa are both ready to see if they can pry James Ward-Prowse away from Southampton this summer.

The new season is now just hours away but that is not stopping these two clubs from targeting the Saint’s captain before the season is in full swing.

Time and time again the club have stated that James Ward-Prowse is not for sale and it does not matter what the clubs offer for him. Yet, that has not deterred teams from trying still as they must believe everything has a price.

In a piece from Hampshirelive, Martin Semmens, once again, explains that the player is not for sale and he will be playing for Southampton this season.

With Ward-Prowse staying, that will provide some comfort to fans as it looks like Vestergaard could be on his way out here soon. I am not against a move for Vestergaard. I believe if they can get the right price for the defender they could sign a few more players this summer to add depth to the squad and add coverage to positions where they are thin.

The transfer window is open for a few more weeks but that time will go by quickly as the season starts tomorrow and the fixtures will start coming quickly.

Hopefully, Southampton can kick off their season with a result against a tough Everton side.
