Nat Phillips

According to a report from the Athletic, Saints are one of the teams interested in taking Nat Phillips from Liverpool in this summer window.

The 24-year-old was pushed from Under-23s level and up to the Liverpool first-team during the 2020/21 season after Jurgen Klopp suffered with injuries to his main centre-backs.

In his team’s time of need, Phillips performed well and is perhaps now seen as a talent that could become a Premier League regular – whether that be with Liverpool or elsewhere.

The Athletic claim that he will be available for around £12-15m and Saints would seemingly have that money to play with after the sales of Danny Ings and Jannik Vestergaard boosted the funds available to Ralph Hasenhuttl.

It remains to be seen whether Saints will make Phillips one of their top targets, but Hampshire Live suggest that he will not be actively be pursued as a replacement for Vestergaard.
