The transfer window is coming to a close but Southampton may not be done just yet as they are looking to bolster their midfield with Ryan Christie.

According to a new report from the Sun, Southampton are interested in doing business with Celtic once again. Ryan Christie currently plays for Celtic in the Scottish league and is out of contract at the end of the season. Southampton are looking to get him for cheap due to his contract expiring soon.

Southampton are not the only club that are interested in the player as Burnley and Sheffield United are also linked with the player.

The 26-year-old player has spent the last two seasons with Celtic and has played really well catching the eye of a number of clubs.

dark. Next. Why Southampton look more in tune with Hasenhuttl’s press this season

Southampton have just over a week to complete any more business until January and I do not see them selling any more players until next summer. Outside of a couple of bad spells during the Everton match, the team has looked pretty decent and will have a decent showing this season.

Another midfielder would help add depth to the team and that is never a bad thing.

Saints will take on Newport this Wednesday in the EFL Cup and then Newcastle in the league. Those are two very winnable matches and a chance to gain some momentum going into the first international break.
