Tom Davies

According to a report from Football Insider back in May, Saints will try to sign Davies if they are given any encouragement from Everton.

Davies has been linked with Saints a couple of times before and looks to have the energy in midfield to suit Ralph Hasenhuttl’s high-intensity style.

He is capable of carrying the ball in central areas and could prove to be a good addition, although it is unknown whether a loan or permanent transfer would be more likely.

Everton do have good options in midfield and have five other central-midfield options ahead of Davies right now. Given that the 23-year-old came through the youth ranks there though, any move away could be tough to take.

He would also need assurances over game time with James Ward-Prowse and Oriol Romeu likely to be ahead of him at St Mary’s should he arrive before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
