Southampton had a busy summer transfer window as a total of 20 deals were done in all.

Some big players departed permanently and others went out on loan, but the signings that were added to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s squad actually looked to improve things.

There is now much more depth available to the Saints boss and this will enable him to combat injury problems should they come at some point in this season.

Significant talent has also been signed though and the performances of Tino Livramento in particular have made the fee that he was signed for look like a bargain already. Others like Adam Armstrong and Romain Perraud have also shown glimpses of being very good Premier League players.

There is some youth and experience in the team right now and Saints will be hoping that this gives them a strong chance of success now and into the future.
