Southampton got a lot of business done this summer including selling a number of players but it could have been even more if these teams had their way.

James Ward-Prowse and Kyle Walker-Peters, two players that were likely never going to be sold, were on the radars of teams this summer to help bolster their squads.

For Kyle Walker-Peters, it is rumoured that Everton were looking at the player and really wanted to bring him in to help their defense. Hasenhuttl made it clear that the wing-back was not going to be going anywhere and has a huge role to play in this squad.

Despite Tino looking like he will be the starting Right-back going forward, Kyle was very impressive in his start on the Left and could easily be the starter over there moving forward.

The next player that was on a teams radar was James Ward-Prowse (shocker) who was apparently on Liverpool’s radar this summer as well as probably several other teams.

It was made quite clear that our Captain was not going anywhere this summer but it that did not stop teams like Aston Villa from submitting bids for the midfielder.

I was fine with the sale of Ings and Vestergaard as it was clear they were not fully committed to playing for the club but I believe Ward-Prowse and Walker-Peters are more than happy to be at Southampton and playing for this club.

The window is now shut though and the players at the club will be here until at least January but I see them staying at the club a lot longer than that!
