Managers are not forever and Southampton know that so they have identified Steve Cooper as a potential replacement for Hasenhuttl down the line.

From a new report from the Sun, Matt Crocker is a big fan of the former Swansea boss and has put him on the list of future candidates for when Ralph leaves in the future.

This does not, by any stretch, mean that Ralph is leaving anytime soon but the club do want to be prepared for when that day comes.

Cooper is currently out of work but his past work is more than enough to get him considered for a shot at a Premier League job.

I do not think Ralph will be leaving within the next 3 years but as who have had managers leave abruptly they know they have to be ready if that happens again.

Southampton are off to a decent start this season taking a point from matches against Manchester United and West Ham. They are still without a win however and that will be tough to change this weekend when they take on Manchester City.

I do not think Southampton will be anywhere near a relegation scrap this season as there are clearly a number of teams worse than then but it does not mean it will be a struggle. The team is young and Ralph will need to get the most out of them if they hope to finish mid-table.

Hopefully, on Saturday they can shock the league again and get a result from Manchester City at the Etihad.
