Southampton got past Sheffield United in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night thanks to a couple of first goals for Salisu, Diallo, and some calmly taken penalties.

This was a match for some players to prove themselves to Hasenhuttl that typically do not get much match time and some stepped up while others took a step backwards.

But, all is well that ends well and Southampton move onto the next round of the EFL cup and will learn who they will play later this evening.

For now, let us take a look at the 5 best Saints right now.

Number 5

Mohamed Elyounoussi

I think Mohamed Elyounossi benefited from not playing in this match. It showed how much of an impact he has been having on the team so far this season. He has been a constant threat on the attack and has really shown that hard work does pay off.

Since his league debut this season only 3 other players in the whole league have more shots on target than he does so you have to think that will start translating into goals here soon.
