Strikers and Substitutes

Che Adams, Striker – 6

Soft attempt on goal and couldn’t pull the trigger from 8 yards were his offensive highlights of the opening 45.  Needs to get to the near post with better timing, but in fairness he is at least close, Armstrong is rarely to be found.  Excellent when pressing, creating opportunities more so without the ball.  One good strike on frame, powerful, but far too central.

Adam Armstrong, Striker – 4

The most progressive we have seen him driving at the Wolves’ back line.  He set up Elyounoussi with a miss hit shot and laid a good pass off for Che Adams who unconvincingly leaned away from his attempt.  Drove one from 20 yards on the end of a strong Southampton press and should have scored.  A lot of tired mistakes in the second half slowed down the match as he drifted into different positions to find the play.  Not good enough in a match where he probably could have had a brace.

Armando Broja, Substitute Striker – 5

Like for like for Che Adams shortly after the Wolves goal.  Rarely involved.  Almost shockingly uninvolved.

Moussa Djenepo, Substitute Attacking-Midfielder – 6

Changed the dynamic on the left side and brought life to the attack.  Fizzed a couple crosses in, but it is hard for his targets to predict when it is coming.  Overly dramatic in the end with two memorable and poor attacks.  Still think he is leaps and bounds ahead of Redmond.

Shane Long, Substitute Striker – N/A

Added to bolster the front line in place of KWP.  A chance did fall to him in the final 10 minutes, but was blocked over the line.  It was fun to see him, but not for many.
