Southampton: Club willing to pay release clause of Rodri Sanchez
Southampton are reportedly interested in Rodri Sanchez who has become a star player in La Liga for Real Betis but face stiff competition.
The La Liga side are currently negotiating with the player on a new contract and the Premier League teams are waiting in the wings to pay his release clause if nothing happens.
This all comes from a report from sports witness, and it states that Southampton along with Everton and Brighton are interested in the player. The clause right now is at €24m which would be a bit steep for Southampton and Brighton but one that Everton could afford easily.
The contract for the 21-year-old does not expire until 2024 but Real Betis now see that he is worth more than the release clause and will want to make it higher before the January transfer window.
Sanchez, is capable of playing multiple attacking positions including left-wing and in the midfield. If Real Betis are able to sign him to a new contract it would force the likes of Southampton and Brighton out of the picture so hopefully, a move to the Premier League is enough to get him from signing a new deal.
The January transfer window for Southampton will depend largely on if they are able to turn around this slow start and start picking up more points. Goals have been hard to come by so it makes sense the club has been linked with a number of attacking players already.
The more we inch closer to January the more rumours we will see.
