Southampton vs Burnley Preview: TV, Line-ups, and Predictions
Southampton got their first win of the season last weekend against Leeds and now turn their focus to Burnley for another win on Saturday.
Burnley are looking for their first win of the season and have been struggling to score goals much like Southampton. The Saints currently sit 15th on the table and Burnley are 18th. It may be too early to call it a 6-pointer but both teams will desperately want to win this one.
For Southampton, it is a chance to get further away from the relegation zone and for Burnley it is a chance to gain some momentum. Let us see how both teams can win.
How Southampton Will Win
Southampton will need to play an identical match to the one they had against Leeds. They absolutely suffocated their opponents and did not allow them many chances throughout the whole match.
Burnley are always sound defensively so the Saints will need to make sure they convert their chances. If they don’t, this match could easily end nil-nil.
I think Southampton will get an early goal which will apply pressure to Burnley who are not very good going forward and will allow the Saints to get all 3 points.
How Burnley Will Win
Burnley cannot allow Southampton to score if they want to win this match. They simply do not have enough firepower to score multiple goals in this one.
Saints still have issues breaking down defenses and scoring goals so if Burnley ensure they are solid on defense and give themselves a few chances to counter they could snag a goal and see out a 1-0 victory.
I do not see this being a pretty match but neither team will care if they get all 3 points.
TV Channel
Highlights of this match will be shown on Match of the Day in the UK and will be on Peacock for the United States.
